Robert N. Katayama
A Legacy of Opportunity
Robert N. Katayama is an alumnus of the University of Hawai'i Class of 1950 with a B. A. in History. Robert is also an attorney and caring supporter of the University of Hawai'i.There are many ways to support the University of Hawai'i, and Robert wanted to explore the different, unique ways he could support his many charitable and financial interests. Robert wanted to make sure students with limited resources would have the opportunity to attend University of Hawai'i.
"Were it not for World War II's GI Bill, I would never have been able to afford to go to law school. I want to help future students with financial need attend law school right here in Hawai'i." - Robert Katayama

Robert says, "As a retiree, I also understand the importance of prudent financial planning, so I have made my gift in the form of a plan that will pay me income for life. After I am gone, part of the remainder will support a scholarship and faculty development at the University of Hawai'i's William S. Richardson School of Law. I have other charitable interests as well, and this plan also enables me to provide for the UH Colleges of Arts and Sciences Endowment Fund, as well as several other institutions. I am happy to partially repay some of my life's benefactors."
